Dear Kimmett Cup Family,

What a truly #MONUMENTAL weekend we shared at Kimmett Cup 16, a testament to the enduring spirit of Lindsay Kimmett (#25) and the power of community! We came together, not just as players and fans, but as a family, united in our commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most.

This year, your incredible generosity resulted in a resounding success, raising over $160,000! These funds will directly support:

  • The Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation: Focusing on supporting, uplifting, and treating children and adolescents facing mental health challenges and ailments.
  • Helping Families Handle Cancer: Alleviating the stresses and burdens patients and their families encounter on their journeys to overcome cancer.
  • Helping Hands Cochrane: Combating food insecurity amongst our friends and neighbors.

We also extend our heartfelt gratitude and financial support to the Cochrane Lions Club and Cochrane Search and Rescue. Their monumental behind-the-scenes efforts ensured the comfort and safety of everyone, from the warm tents to the delicious food, enabling us to fully enjoy the spirit of the event.

The energy was palpable as over 450 players on 48 teams competed, fueled by the dedication of 50 volunteers, the generosity of over 100 sponsors, and the excitement of over 100 silent auction prizes.

On the ice, congratulations to We Are Family, our Kimmett Cup champions, and the Try Hards, our U18 winners! A special shout-out to Captain Gerald Gensorek and his Sweet 16 teammates, who, along with Dr. Joe MacLellan, captured the Spirit of the Kimmett Cup Award for their outstanding fundraising efforts.

In recognition of their unwavering legacy of giving, commitment, and passion, and as a symbol of why we play, we proudly presented honorary White Kimmett Cup jerseys to Dean and Susan DeBiasio, Don Teece, Tyler Teece, and Charlie Lloyd. This cherished tradition continues to expand our Kimmett Cup Family and keep Lindsay’s memory alive.

We were once again thrilled to award three Pickering Prize Scholarships to the top U18 fundraisers, a tribute to the courage of our friend and long-time supporter, Paige Pickering, and her family. Congratulations to the recipients Kayden Morris, Gavin Wade & Eli Torrie. Our sincere thanks to Graham Torrie and Melissa Wade for their passionate organization of the U18 division, fostering the next generation of givers and continuing one of the most meaningful Kimmett Cup traditions.

To relive the magic, please watch the amazing wrap-up video by Gabe Yee of Lotus Media Canada at kimmettcup.com. We also want to thank Coach and Teacher Derek Cooper, Chris Lindsey of Jayden Images, our longest-serving Kimmett Cup photographer, and Lynda Sweet for capturing so many meaningful moments, which we are compiling and organizing here. Please feel free to share and tag your favourite moments and friends on our Facebook and Instagram pages!

A heartfelt thank you to our sponsors—your ongoing support makes all of this possible. We encourage everyone to support us by supporting them all year long. Please see the attached thank-you ad, which has been shared throughout Cochrane via our media partners.
